X-Fighters 2012

Como muitos já sabem o Red Bull X-Fighters é um tremendo show de FMX. E ele está de volta para os fãs nesta sexta feira (13/04) para mais uma apresentação no calor das areias de Dubai (EAU).

Vamos acompanhar de perto mais este grande evento. Comentar algumas curiosidades que acontecem nos bastidores do campeonato e conseguir algumas entrevistas com alguns dos melhores pilotos do mundo.

Estes são todos os pilotos listados para as competições do Red Bull X-Fighters 2012. Com certeza poderemos esperar doubles backflip, volt, muitos combo backflip.

Uma novidade que entra para este ano é a proibição de flips no primeiro round! Sim, isso foi estipulado para que alguns pilotos tivessem mais chances de irem para as finais... E com isso os juízes estipulam que não basta ficar flipando, mas sim mostrar técnica, estilo e empolgação do público. Vejam trecho retirado do livro de regras do X-Fighters 2012:

"Competition Format
Round 1
The top 6 ranked riders will sit out Round 1 and all other riders will compete in reverse ranking order. Each rider will take one run on the course with a predetermined time limit (typically 60 seconds). No inverted rotational tricks will be allowed in this round (backflips, frontflips, 360’s, inverted varials). Any rider who performs an inverted rotational trick in this round will be disqualified from competition and will forfeit all points and prize monies. At the completion of each rider’s run, the judges will award a score. When all riders in this round have completed a scored run, the top 2 scored riders will be advanced through to Round 2 where the highest scored Round 1 rider will be awarded the #7 seed and the second highest scored Round 1 rider will be awarded the #8 seed."

FMX Awards 2011 - Results

The worldwide FMX scene voted Javier Villegas as the Best International FMX Rider in 2011. The FMX athlete from Chile won the NIGHT of the JUMPs / FIM Freestyle MX World Championship series last year and reached 64% of all votes. Spaniard Dany Torres made it on top of the Euro riders and won in the category “Best European FMX Rider.

For the 3^rd time in a row Robbie Maddison has been crowned as “Best Australian FMX Rider”. Users choice for “Best American FMX Rider” felt to X-Games Champion Nate Adams. Taka Higashino became “Best Asian FMX Rider” for the 2^nd time.

Marcelo Simoes won the category “Best Brazilian FMX Rider”, German FMX Champion Hannes Ackermann has been voted as “Best German FMX Rider”. His younger brother Luc Ackermann, World Record holder of the youngest Backflip on a motorcycle, is once again German FMX Rookie of the year.

NIGHT of the JUMPs newcomer Maikel Melero made it on top of two categories. The Spanish rider is International and European Rookie of the year.

The users choice for the best FMX Event/Series felt to the Red Bull X-Fighters followed by the X Games and the NIGHT of the JUMPs. Best FMX Bike 2011 was once again the Yamaha YZ 250. Finally Kyle Lozas bikeflip attempt won the Best Trick Innovation.

The FMX Awards were established in 2006 by Berlinièros Sports Agency to honor the world's best Freestyle Motocross riders. Annually it awards FMX competitors who have been outstanding during the previous year.

Night of the Jumps 2012 - Basel

Neste final de semana teremos novamente o Night of the Jumps, agora em Basel na Suíça.

Infelizmente não contaremos com a presença de Javier Villegas, pois ele está em Dubai para o 1º Red Bull X-Fighters de 2012. Portanto Remi Bizouard e Libor Podmol terão a chance de disparar nos pontos gerais.

Maikel Melero também está de fora desta, devido a seu acidente no último round. Boa notícia esta para os franceses David Rinaldo e Brice Izzo.

Uma novidade nesta rodada é Gabriel Villegas, irmão do campeão de 2011 que vem com tudo mostrar suas habilidades.

In this weekend we have again Night of the Jumps, in Basel – Swittzerland.
Unfortenely we don’t have Javier Villegas runnig, because he is now on Dubai for the 1^st Red Bull X-Fighters in 2012. So Remi Bizouard and Libor Podmol have the time to go big and open more distance for the general results.

Maikel Melero the rookie of the year 2011, stay out too, because his accident on the last round.
Good for the two French David Rinaldo and Brice Izzo.
